The Knights moved to 5-4 on the year with a 120-95 win over the Hampton Roads Stallions at Calvary AG Sunday night. It's their 3rd straight win over the Stallions, making them the undisputed top team in the Seven City area this year.
The Knights led all the way, taking leads in excess of 30 points at times, and looking strong on both offense and defense.
We saw precision outside shooting from Brandon Smith and near-total domination in the middle from Q and Mike Anderson. Coach Stubbs seemed to sense victory early on and spread the wealth around fairly evenly, which we should see when the stats come out.
Check out the Video page! We now have complete game footage available from two earlier season games against the Legends. Many thanks to BBOps D. Page and to the Lynchburg Legends for providing this professional quality video coverage.
The Knights game against the South Carolina Warriors scheduled for 1/12/13 was canceled due to 6 players having the flu. The next game will be in Virginia Beach at Calgary Assembly of God against the Hampton Roads Stallions 1/19 at 7:00.
The Knights cruised to their second win of the season Sunday night at Calvary, topping the North Carolina G-Squad 114 - 100. Marcus Allen put up 36, posting a new single game best for the team, especially impressive in a game played under the college 20-minute half format.
The Knights led most of the way, although the G-Squad stayed competitive, leading 57 - 56 at the half and taking a 7-point lead early in the second period. But strong late-game performances from Brandon Smith (24) and Josiah Whitehead (12) sealed a much-needed home victory.
Other strong performances for the Knights came from Brian Faulcon, who led with 8 assists, and Durand Jackson, who added 10. The Knights go to 2 and 4 on the year and face the South Carolina Warriors next week in Myrtle Beach.
Ok, this isn't The Knights, but we just had to post this video of Seth B from the Va Beach Courthouse league, who scored 13 points in his team's 20 - 7 opening day victory. (Helps that his grandmother is dating the web designer).
The Knights lost another one to the Richmond Elite in Richmond Sunday night, 136-109. Despite a stellar performance from Ralph Hegamin, who led all scorers with 35, the Knights
failed to overcome a 39-16 3rd quarter onslaught from the Elite.
Top performers for the Knights were Hegamin, whose total marks a new game high for the Knights this season, Q Waddell, with 8 rebounds, and Brian Faulcon with 10 assists and 4 steals.
The Elites' Brandon Rozzell once again proved to be a nemesis for Knights, leading all Richmond scorers with 30.
The Knights drop to 1-4 on the year, while the Elite remain undefeated at 6-0, and move to #5 on the ABA power rankings.
The Knights owner Lawrence Taylor proves he's still got got the moves (like Jaggar) as he shows off his handles at a recent practice session. And One!
The Knights put up their first win in a big way Friday night at Calvary A/G by demolishing their cross-town rival, the Hampton Roads Stallions, 144-95.
After a sluggish first quarter that ended with the Stallions up 31-28, the Knights went on a tear, dominating both ends of the court and taking a 68-50 lead into the half. The assault continued into the 3rd, where the Knights put up 31 to the Stallions 15, and in a welcome departure from previous games, held momentum until the final buzzer.
A standout for the Knights was Marcus Allen who led all scorers with 32 and wowed the fans with some spectacular air work. Lando Morrison put up 21, and Ralph Hegamin was automatic on 3-pointers in the second half, tallying 18. Brian Faulcon and Austin Kenon were both effective on Point, giving the Knights impressive depth in that position.
Overall, we saw an energic, well-organized team that betrays their 1-3 record and promises lots of excitement coming in the new year.
The Knights lost a tough one to the Richmond Elite Sunday night at Maury High School. After leading 73-50 in the 3rd quarter,
the Knights gave up 20 unanswered points, then battled back and forth for the lead through the 4th quarter.
With 3 seconds remaining and the score tied 95-95, the Elite's Brandon Rozzell drew a foul from the Knights'
Lando Morrison under the ABA 3-D foul rule, and sank all three penalty shots.
A last-ditch buzzer attempt from Brandon Smith fell short, and the Elite pulled off a 98-95 cliff-hanger.
The Knights go to 0-3 in a rocky start to the 2012-13 season.
